Benefits and reimbursements: keep a separate list
Avoid treating every payment as an automatic deduction.
Record payments separately
List what was paid, by whom, for which period and for which expense. Insurance benefits, employer payments and other support may have different conditions. This worksheet keeps its cost total separate because it does not determine offsets, repayment obligations or coordination.
Do not subtract by instinct
A payment covering a particular invoice is not necessarily treated the same way as a general income benefit. Some amounts may require review of policy wording, legislation or an agreement. Ask what should be deducted, disclosed or repaid rather than applying one blanket rule.
Policies and dates matter
Ontario’s regulator describes changed accident-benefit coverage for policies entered into on or after July 1, 2026. The exact policy and who is covered therefore matter. Province alone is not enough to select every applicable benefit.
Take specific questions
Which payment overlaps which loss? Is there a repayment claim? What documents show the condition? Has a benefit been requested but not paid? These are questions for the relevant insurer or professional, not instructions generated from your subtotal.
