The worksheet library
Prepare for a professional conversation
Bring clear questions and a manageable worksheet.
Start with purpose
Explain what you need to understand: the applicable process, which records matter, a deadline, a benefit question or an offer’s terms. Ask the professional what information they need and how they want it provided before sending a large file bundle.
Bring assumptions you can explain
A weekly figure should have a basis. A future monthly cost should have a source or be clearly described as a scenario. A range should have a reason. The worksheet’s download is a prompt for discussion, not evidence that the legal value has already been established.
Ask about the working relationship
Confirm who will handle the matter, the scope of any advice, communication arrangements, costs and the terms of an engagement. Do not assume a general enquiry created a lawyer-client relationship.
Verify the professional directly
Use the relevant law society’s public resources to check current practice information. Alberta, BC and Ontario resources are linked below. The site team does not select a lawyer, assess your case or guarantee an introduction.
